Addiction & Sobriety

1: Addiction is not a lack of willpower – Addiction is recognized by the medical community as a treatable disease.
2. Addiction is not something to be ashamed of – Shaming creates barriers to accessing help and treatment

Charity mission

23.5 million Americans are addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs, that’s 1 in every 10 Americans over the age of 12 – roughly equal to the entire population of Texas. Only 11% of those with an addiction, 2.6 Million Americans, receive treatment.

Addiction is a disease and many Americans cannot afford to get the treatment they desperately need. Among those able to access treatment, nearly half, 48.4 %, reported using their own money to pay for their care. Private insurance covers only 10 % of addiction treatment costs! The cost to get this necessary treatment is something that many people, especially those uninsured, simply cannot afford.

The Loosid App Foundation was created to reduce the stigma that sobriety is something to be ashamed of, but rather to be celebrated. The Foundation’s mission is to not only provide support for those suffering from substance abuse, but also to provide resources to the existing sober community and all who choose to live a sober life.

Through the Loosid App Foundation your donation will support the Herren Project and Rock to Recovery. Herren Project is a national nonprofit organization providing free resources and support for the treatment, recovery and prevention of substance use disorder. Rock to Recovery helps people heal and transform their lives through the powerful experience of writing, playing, and performing music as a group.

Here’s how a life of sobriety
has changed their lives

Before I got sober, I had nothing. No friends, no car, no house, no coping mechanisms. I was sad all the time, I hated my life- I tried to end it. When I finally got the help I needed- everything changed. I have been able to form long term friendships and loving relationships with people I know genuinely care about me. I have been able to grieve the loss of my mother in a healthy way. I have been able to keep a job, buy a car, eat multiple meals a day, and sleep in my own bed every night. I have overcome the beliefs that I am broken, worthless, and undeserving of good things. Today I am a contributing member of society. Today I am free.

Sobriety has changed my life completely. I was angry and stressed out all the time, I would black out and end up in different places every morning worried about what I did the night before. Getting sober gave me the ability to build the life I always wanted. I have a place to live and food in my refrigerator. I have a great apartment and good health. I no longer turn to substances to fix my problems and I can face them and solve them with a clear mind.

I was out there on the street, I never thought I deserved to have a good life. I always ended up in bad situations and would wake up in hospitals weekly. Sobriety made me a completely new person. I have been given a chance to form a community of support around me. Sobriety let me go to school and get a good job. I even found a healthy relationship and got married. I have overcome a lot, and I learned how to experience adversity without giving up. I never thought a person like me deserved anything, but sobriety gifted me a whole new life.

Sobriety is not the end of fun.
It’s only the beginning…
